Hi Guys!!!!

Welcome to Rushmehome. My name is Rashmi pronounced…”rush-me”, get it? Ha! I’m a mom of two little munchkins ages 2 and 3, the honor I wear so proudly, all day, every day.  Married to the love of my life and living on the east coast, after being born in India and raised in Southern California. Those of you wondering, why would one move from sunny SoCal?? Maybe one day I’ll share that story, but for now, wanted to share how Rushmehome came about.

I’ve always loved home decor and design. If you ask my closest family and friends they will tell you when it came to decorating a space, I was their gal. From building furniture to designing a space to finding the pieces that make it work and creating a space that’s unique and special made my heart happy.

I specifically remember a time when I was walking down the halls of undergrad and I saw an interior design vision board of another student and I stood there looking at the swatches, the different colors and how cool it must be to do a project like this. That memory is one that I don’t think I will ever forget because that memory sits with me every day, and is the spark as to why I am attracted and always have been to interior design. I always believed that creating a space that makes you feel like it’s your home is the best feeling.

Let’s fast forward to 12 years later, you may wonder, what happened in those 12 years? Yet another story for another time 🙂 but now, I’m a full time working mom, who just bought a new construction home a few months ago, who is excited to begin the journey of interior design on a budget. Boy am I excited to dig in and share some of the decor and design that I’ve already done and so much more that’s left to do. I’m here to share the good, the bad and sometimes the ugly, because let’s face it, as much as I love my house clean and beautiful like all those Pinterest posts you see, sometimes life just doesn’t work that way. So, friends, this blog has been a long time coming, mostly because I was afraid of taking the leap of faith of how things would turn out, but even when you’re scared you have to make that jump right? So here I’m jumping, excited and nervous, but I hope you will all like what you see and join me in my design journey.

  1. Hi Rushmi, just curious since you didnt mention anything about whether do you have a degree in interior designing? The reason I say and ask this is because many of us may have a strong “decor” interest, but its not fair to consider ourselves “interior design experts” compared to those who went to school for that. Interior designing entails a lot more than just decorating spacing. I dont write this out of any ill intention or disregard to your feelings, but it would be nice to share what your background/education is in? If it is (or not) in interior designing.

    1. Hi!! I apologize for not seeing this earlier! I completely understand and don’t want to take away from people who have gone to interior design school. I always wanted to but my parents always at that time saw it as a hobby so it was self-taught. In any other posts, I mention interior decorator and styling as I don’t have any degree. And as you know many folks have a blog that is in the food industry, fashion, etc that have not gone to culinary school or fashion school. I’m just here to share my love for interior decorating and styling. Hope you stay and enjoy what I share. Thank you so much for asking and wondering. I have no problems answering any questions! 🙂
