the Project
The Grounded Sanctuary Project offered a unique opportunity to blend cultural richness with serene, modern design. Nestled in the suburbs of Central New Jersey, this home carries a strong South Asian aesthetic throughout. For the primary bedroom, the clients wanted to maintain that cultural essence while introducing a more modern, earthy, and calming atmosphere. Originally a gray and underwhelming space, we transformed it into a tranquil oasis for this busy couple with three children. Limewashed walls in soft green tones set a grounding backdrop, while South Asian influences were thoughtfully layered through the bedding, warm wood textures, and brass accents. We also reimagined the bay window into a cozy nook—perfect for unwinding with a book or a cup of chai. This space now reflects everything a primary bedroom should be: restorative, personal, and deeply comforting.
