Thanksgiving doesn’t have to feel like a marathon, even though I know it absolutely can. With a little planning and a few stylish shortcuts, you can create a warm, intentional holiday without losing your sanity. We’ve all been there.
Last year, I hosted Thanksgiving totally last minute, and I’ll be honest — it wasn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done. But I got through it, and I actually enjoyed it. So this year, I wanted to pass along the tips that saved me, in hopes they make your holiday run a little smoother too.
Here are five simple ways to make the day feel lighter, easier, and still absolutely gorgeous.
1. Kraft Paper: Your Secret Hosting Superhero

If there’s one thing I swear by during the holidays, it’s a good kraft paper roll. Not only does it make cleanup easy, but it also becomes a charming, design-forward tabletop layer.
Use it to label dishes, note allergens, or write fun little messages for your guests. It’s casual, clever, and saves you from washing yet another thing at the end of it all.
2. Turn the Kraft Roll Into a Menu and Gratitude Wall

Take that kraft roll and get even more out of it. Use one section for a handwritten menu that sets the tone, looks effortlessly chic, and lets guests know what deliciousness is coming.
Then designate another section as a thankful wall. I did this last year and it became the sweetest moment of the day. Guests can jot down what they’re grateful for, creating a meaningful and beautiful tradition.
3. Decorate With Fall Fruits and Veggies

Forget overthinking your decor because nature already did the work. Scatter colored fruits and vegetables down your island such as pomegranates, pears, squashes, mini pumpkins, artichokes, or anything with rich autumn tones. It’s simple, affordable, and instantly brings in organic textures that make a table feel warm and lived in. I was doing this last minute so I bought what was available and it still turned out cute!
4. Plan Your Menu Early

A week before Thanksgiving, write out your full menu and list every ingredient you’ll need.
This doesn’t just help with grocery shopping. It also gives you time to spot gaps, adjust portions, and avoid the late night panic of realizing you forgot something essential. A little planning upfront makes the whole week feel calmer.
My menu included: Crostini Dip, Cheese & Crackers, Various Dips, Mexican Lasanga, Mac N Cheese, Green Breans, Mash Potatoes and for dessert a no bake cheese cake.
5. Prep Ahead and Delegate

The night before, prep whatever you can. Chop veggies, assemble casseroles, measure spices, set the table, or handle anything that makes the next day smoother. And here’s a hosting secret. Delegate. Assign tasks ahead of time so you’re not juggling everything while trying to host. People genuinely want to help. Give them a job and take the pressure off yourself. I know this one can be hard but you want to remember that it’s not worth all the stress if you’re not going to enjoy it.
Thanksgiving should feel full of connection, good food, and gratitude, not stress. With these simple and thoughtful tips, you can create a warm, beautiful celebration and actually enjoy the day too.
Here’s to create happy memories,
